How do you explain that in Iran they would not allow Homosexuality, yet California just allowed Gay Marriage?

Im not asking you to compare apples to oranges, I just want to hear your thoughts on that. If your going to compare apples to oranges, then flip the pages and move on. this is a question of your thoughts nothing else. How do you explain that in Iran they would not allow Homosexuality, yet California just allowed Gay Marriage?
i think its because Iran is very strict on their laws and how they deal with homosexuals which is to kill them were as California is in the us and is under the constitution meaning it has to be open to freedom of speech and beliefsHow do you explain that in Iran they would not allow Homosexuality, yet California just allowed Gay Marriage?
Pretty easy to explain the difference there.

Iran is a country ruled by a fundamentalist Islamic Government. There is no seperation of Church and State as they are virtually one and the same. The Religeous leaders control the government and push a more hardline and conservative form of government where individual freedom and expression take a back seat to government control. They even have police who arrest women on the street if they deem the attire inappropriate for public wear.

California and the United States have a much more open, and free society that allows people to, ';Be who they are!'; and we do not generally persecute people due to their religeous beliefs and such.

Homosexuality is not a religeon, but in a more modern, open and free society Smaller fringe groups gain more acceptance and freedoms than they would in a strictly contolled theocracy like Iran.

I am not saying the Iranian government is evil nor am I saying that about California. Just two opposite ends of the spectrum. Two entirely different thought processes and belief structures in the governments in both places.
California did not base their decision on what is right, but what is relative to what should be wrong. The right thing to do was to stick to the 61% or 85% votes that was against the gays. What is relative is who has the power to do what they want. (Dictator)

There is no difference in California forcing the people to accept gay marriage and Iran forcing people not to accept it. They both dictate the law as the powers that be, want it to be.

Right, wrong, black, white, apples, and oranges, this has no place in a dictatorship. You need democracy for that to happen.
there are vast cultural differences between the two places. I know little to nothing of iran, but i live in california. California obviously has a much larger amount of homosexual couples that're socially accepted. One can also argue that America in general, which is a supposed center for cultural diversity, is much more tolerant of different kinds of life styles and philosophies.
In Iran homosexuals are executed because it violates the principles advocated in the Koran. They are very strict about that and there is no tolerance whatsoever. In the U.S. the state is not bound by the Bible, which specifically condemns homosexuality. Thus, a state legislature or a court can determine if queers can marry officially. In CA the voters banned queer marriages by a margin of 58%, but the state Supreme Court overruled the voters. A referendum is now in the works to overrule the court's decision, but it shouldn't make any difference. If the vote is the same, the court can overrule it. Some kind of democracy, isn't it?
Your the one comparing apples to oranges. We are not Iran. I'm sure Iran like every other country in the world has its Homosexuals, but like it was here before, their to scared to come out of the closet. Not because of the ridicule it would bring, and loosing your job like it was in our past. No the thought of loosing their head probably keeps them in the closet with the door locked.
Because, in Iran, religion has real political power鈥攚hile America (including California) has a 100% secular constitutional government.

If conservative Christians achieve their goal of hijacking the US Constitution and turning America into a quasi-theocratic based fascist state, then the US will be no different than Iran or Saudi Arabia 鈥?or any other repressive religion-based country.
I believe Larry H answered it best.

This is to guy chi... we're not a pure democracy. We're a representative one. We elect the officials and they make the decisions. Look up tyranny of the majority to find out why it's this way.
because Iran is a Theocracy and in the dark ages
THIS IS AMERICA 2008 HAVE U BEEN TO IRAN.. THEY DRESS LIKE JESUS...COME ON MAN
