What is the best, constitutional way to resolve the same sex marriage issue?

If they kept religious groups out of this issue it would have been resolved long ago. But so many religious groups think it is wrong.


Fundamentalist, Christian religions, Jehovah Witness they all think it is wrong and bad.


Well as long as they do not pratice, it will not hurt them. But the issue is screwed no matter what. As long as we keep religion out of it we could deal with the issue but that is not happening.What is the best, constitutional way to resolve the same sex marriage issue?
A start would be by living up to the spirit of the Constitution, not the literal meaning. Note, it states thus:





';We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.';





The argument that has always been used to hold back certain things is ';the pursuit of Happiness.'; Pursuit being the key word. The Constitution only guranatees the right to seek Happiness, not the happiness itself. And that is the catch 22 of the whole thing.What is the best, constitutional way to resolve the same sex marriage issue?
Legalize it already. This back and forth is annoying. It took us a hundred years to ban slavery, and another hundred until women could vote. Jesus Christ we're slow when it comes to social issues.





It hurts me that these Christians pushing for the idea ';stable 2-parent family'; concept wouldn't want to encourage gays and lesbian to engage in monogamous relationships to ensure children would have the best environment. And it is hypocritical. For if we didn't have heterosexual marriage, the ideal 2-parent home would be more of a rarity.
I wouldn't worry about it.


Let gay rights activists do their thing, and let homophobes do their thing.


Christians agreed with the slave trade at one point, it just took everyone a while to catch on. It's the same for gay marriage, the Christians will realize it's a good thing eventually.
legalize it... and stop denying people their rights in this country first it was african americans, then it was women and not its homosexuals.. we need to stop mixing religion and government thats why we left england in the first place and now here we are doing it again... when will we learn.
Allow it, or take the word marriage out and give everyone civil unions (gay and straight). Also, take ';In god we trust'; off the money, the original motto was much better anyway.

Allow it.


Pursuit of happiness.
Legalize it...
