Do you agree with Coretta Scott King that her late husband would have supported Gay Marriage in 2008?

After all, his right-hand man, Bayard Rustin, was a gay man who had a life-long relationship with the same man.Do you agree with Coretta Scott King that her late husband would have supported Gay Marriage in 2008?
Absolutely. What a marvelous woman!!Do you agree with Coretta Scott King that her late husband would have supported Gay Marriage in 2008?
Hard to say. She can only know her spouse so much.

I would think that any pastor in the 60's would not be an advocate for gay marriage. I do not care about the union but it is thekidnappingg of the term marriage that has traditionally meant male and female.

Why isn't civil union good enough? It affords the same rights just not the same rite.
I doubt it. A significant source of votes supporting amendments such as Prop 8 is from black churches.

And there is no logical progression from having close acquaintances who are homosexuals to supporting same-sex marriage. A close friend of mine (flaming liberal, too) is very close to some homosexuals, but has flat out told them she doesn't support same-sex marriage.
I am not sure that she or anyone has the right to state what a deceased person may or may not have supported so many years after his death.

People evolve in their beliefs and what he would or would not support today is conjecture.

We have enough intelligent and capable contributors to this question who are free to have their voice heard whether it be pro or con.
Yes. MLK was the staunchest supporter of civil rights and was the impetus for the movement in the 1960's. No doubt, he would have not only approved of gay marriage, but would have fought to legalize these unions sooner rather than later.
I don't know about Rev. King.

I am sure that if Thurgood Marshall were still on the Supreme Court, he would support it, as an intepretation of the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment.
Dr. King WOULD NOT have supported gay marriage. Since he is dead, Coretta is free to say whatever she wants, with no disagreement from him.
Yes, you can't beg for rights on one hand and deny them to others with the other.
I doubt he would support gay marriage. Highly doubt that.
No. Not at all.
You must have tried hard to dream up such bullshit. Way to go there Brucie.
Not if he was a real preacher he wouldn't.
No.
She'd be the person that would know.
Nope!
no
No I'm not buying it.
We will never know...will we?
not a chance! Most Americans are against gay marriage.
Who gives a ****? He's dead
