If a church approves of a same sex couple getting married, should the state honor their marriage?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blessing_of…

After all, marriage is a religious institution and if a church says it's Ok, shouldn't be Ok?If a church approves of a same sex couple getting married, should the state honor their marriage?
You are preachin’ to the choir on this one – I’ve been saying the same thing for Ohh man, it’s been a long - long time.

Marriage is and always has been a religious institution. In the U.S.A. our forefathers had the foresight to understand that someday, some how, someone would attempt to push their religious beliefs into government and then impose them upon the American public.

They called for a “separation of church and state”

If your church is willing to marry you to a frog, no person in our government has a “right” to deny you or the frog something sanctioned by “the church”.If a church approves of a same sex couple getting married, should the state honor their marriage?
Sure, a

As soon as you have to go to your bishop, or whatever to get your marriage license. The first fallacy is that marriage is a religious institution. The church does not issue a license, the church does not issue a divorce, Clergy do not have the right to marry people from their church. They are vested with this authority by the state. They have to file as ministers with the clerk of court and return the signed contract to the clerk's office.

Ok The bible claims ';marriage'; as a sacrament like ';baptism';. But it is totally controlled by the state. Religious arguments are moot.
NO NO NO%26lt; this must be some dumb church, I am not even Christian and I don't agree for same sex marriages should occur. Marriage is holy matrimony in the eyes of god, be they Allah, Shiva, Jesus or whatever. By letting same sex couple get married, you destroy the holy sanctimony of marriage. I plan to have kids someday, i don't want them growing up in an area against same sex marriage.
No, You state if A CHURCH. I know that there is more than 1 church per state. Let the people of each state vote and which ever side wins that is how is should be honored. There are states that say no and there have been states where the yes' have won. I am christian and I do not believe in Same sex Marriage. I would vote No for same sex marriage
I think the government should stay out of marriage altogether. They've only been involved with it for about 100 years, and now we have to have stupid debates about whether or not gays can get married.

So yes. If your church is OK with it, I don't mind. It doesn't affect me.
Marriage isn't a religious institution. It is both civil and religious.

Churches are not required to recognize civil union. And law is not required to recognize religious union.
Yes, however marriage is NOT a religious institution.
No..
