Heh the leading point by Prop 8 supporters was to protect the children. Funny hypocrisy is that those who are gay or have gay parents will be discriminated against even more! Speaking as a gay 13 year old I can see how religious bigots only want to protect the straight kids.

Do you believe that mentally disabled people are equal to everyone else? Do you think that they should enjoy the same rights? Some people don't think so. That is why some people do not think they should be married or have children. The same logic can apply to gays. Some people think gays are genetically defected.
There are also people believe that gay couples should enjoy the same rights as a married couple under Civil Union. However, they don't think the union between man/man or woman/woman is exactly the same as the union between man/woman; therefore, the union should not be called a marriage.
Another reason that some people are against legalizing gay marriage is the fear that gay activists will push to add gay marriage or gay family topics into school textbooks. They don't want their young children to be exposed to gay related topics.
As you can see, it is not as simple as ';we're all equal, therefore...';
I'm not sure why Gay people are not giving the same rights as murders or rapist. If you murder someone and go to prison do they take away your right to marry? No. So how dare they even think about prohibiting people who have done nothing wrong rights to marry. It is ridiculous. More states should go along with California so we can stop this prejudice.

If your going to go on about how gay marriage is wrong I suggest you have a nice long conversation with yourself about all the things you do in the Bible that are wrong. You cannot pick one thing and ignore the others. People have no excuse for the rest of the sins in the Bible, they do it on a daily basis and don't think twice to acknowledge it. The point is the Bible is a very very very old book and times are different. If you believe everything in the Bible then act accordingly, don't pick gay marriage and say how wrong it is and continue to do everything else wrong.
Well, I have absolutely nothing against gay marriage, it's life, and if you love someone of the same sex, then just leave them alone.
People who would try to badn gay marriage, if they think it is porbably discriminable because we are supposed to be married like boy and girl. Also, i dont why, but some people are AFRAID or gay marriage. It's just the way they are, like gayphobic.
And some people just want to ban it because they dont like the way it sounds or the way the couple looks like. Or how their minds think the ';wrong way'; on how they do it.
Whcih is very dumb of them because it's none of their business, and they should live their life their way, and leave them to their lives.
But on the bright side, gay people are just great, like gay men, they can be closer to you then a girl's own best friend, because they understand more about them, because thats their nature.

Atheists get married and here in the US we can practice whatever religion we want and there are religions that accept homosexuality. Using religion as an argument is invalid.

Reparative therapy does not reverse homosexuality. Bisexuals and heterosexuals who think they are gay will benefit from reparative therapy (though not all bisexuals) because the homosexual desires will be repressed and they may concentrate on their heterosexuality or heterosexual side, but homosexuals will not benefit from it, they will become sorta like asexual; they won't ';act out'; on their gay feelings but the feelings will always be there and won't go away and feelings for the opposite sex will not come into place. COUNTER TO ARGUMENT: Marriage is for creating families? Then I think that any straight couple who can't have children, or who doesn't want children, should not be allowed to get married.
COUNTER TO ARGUMENT: Gay marriage would not be taught in public schools to quote on quote ';impressionable'; children. If it will be taught AT ALL, then it would be in history classrooms. The case where a first grade class went to their teacher's wedding has been taken out of context. It was a parent who made the suggestion for the field trip and the teacher did not make any mention to the class about getting married to another woman. She simply said she was ';getting married';. The parents knew the truth, yet let their kids go. It was a parents suggestion, all the parents knew it was a lesbian wedding, and yet if they wanted to keep their kids from it, they could simply not let them go.
Many of them consider it ridiculous how so many homophobes have twisted it to pretty much say, ';she forced the kids to go to a lesbian wedding';.

3 ) Gay marriage, if passed, WILL be taught to children.
The gov. is very effective in creating an equal learning environment. religion for example - if a teacher needs to present something about a certain religion, he/she MUST also present various other religions. eg, if a correct way marriage is shown, then a homosexual marriage will be shown.
and Sex Education class will be COMPLETELY different...talk about not forcing homosexual concepts on students. They already are being taught about them and its not even legal yet!

of course there are some dated Leviticus laws. The Bible also states that holy men should the highest robes and such (like the pope in a way) obviously very few dress like- that's because times have changed, and new ways of creating clothing have come up. the problem with homosexuality still exists though, because nothing can prove it to be ok, or out-dated.

we need as much food as we can get- and i don't think God would disagree on that. but nothing beneficial can come from allowing homosexuals to announce themselves into society and expect to have opportunities received from religion that go directly against what said religion states.

Because supposedly the bible says it is wrong and when you have all these bible pushers in office, and them thinking this is the way we are suppose to live, by this book, then you have people criticizing others for the way they live there life. Equality has nothing to do with it. I don't want impressionable children taught that same sex marriage is normal and equal to heterosexual marriage. It isn't. The entire purpose of marriage is to create a family through the normal and healthy activity of sexual relations between one man and one woman. This is good old fashioned morality. It is old fashioned because it has worked for thousands and the world is where it is today because of that belief. If the parents of gays were gay they would never have born in the first place.
