What does it mean for a marriage to ';recognized';?

And why on earth would it matter to anyone?

Are there programs that the state is in charge of that would be offered to the people that make up the marriage? Like some form of insurance. etc. Also, are such programs not available to not-legally-recognized couples because the state forbids private companies from offering it, or because the state provides the insurance itself.

I want to know why a marriage being recognized by the state would ever be important to anyone. What does it mean for a marriage to ';recognized';?
if not recognized, then there's no basis for one to file for divorce. i predict gay marriage will be the next big scam market. now's the time to start that career as a divorce lawyer! What does it mean for a marriage to ';recognized';?
It is a union that should not be taken lightly. You are in essence giving you word honestly to your mate that you are bound to each other and no others.

It has to do with respect for the vow you have taken.

But you have abusive relationships, alcoholism, adultery which destroy marriages.

Now they have a law called common law marriages.Never married but lived as a couple for so many years.

Men and men do not NATURALLY conceive children, nor do women and women. That is why people consider it unnatural.

The marriage has and always will be the union of Male and Female in most every ones opinion on earth. Because it is natural for sex and babies to procreate the species.
