Is marriage a starting line or a finish line?

Why do so many people stop working on the relationship, once they are married? Is marriage a starting line or a finish line?
Marriage definitely isnt a finish line, have to keep working on it.Is marriage a starting line or a finish line?
People fail to recognize that marriage takes work-- and that it's never easy to have 2 seperate personalities coming and living together and doing what is right to make it work.. I think yor question should be restated.. or rather addressed that marriage is the beggening and the end of the finish line:

begenning of a future and the end of selfish ways :) Marriage is a blessing if it is put into non-selfish terms, or what you can get from your partner,,, but rather how you can serve the other person...

BLessings
its the finish line of immaturity and the starting line of a whole new life. u can still party, but not as much. u have much more responisbility now, but its also great to always have someone there for you. depends on how u look at it. plus u can have a kid without ur parents freaking out. haha
It's one of the steps in the development of a relationship. Not the start, but definitely not the finish. People tend to get complacent, and it doesn't only pertain to their marriages.
the chase is over and it becomes making plans for the future to reproduce and raise a family so the children can go chase when their time comes and reproduce and on and on.....
Marriage is the starting line, Funeral is the finish line.
marriage is the starting line. there is no finish line if you truly love each other. please take this seriously.
Both. The finish of one phase of your life and the start of a new one.
