Is plural marriage truly un-Biblical or is it because women will not tolerate another woman in the kitchen?

I know that my kitchen is my domain. Is plural marriage truly un-Biblical or is it because women will not tolerate another woman in the kitchen?
no its because any sensible man is terrified of having more than one of you around LOLIs plural marriage truly un-Biblical or is it because women will not tolerate another woman in the kitchen?
Actually, there is more to support polygamy than deny it. Abraham has two wives *christians will say one was a servant/slave but that's just not the case, King David, King Solomon, even adam had two women, just not at the same time. So polygamy's been in existence since the beginning, according to the bible.

I'd say it's more the kitchen thing.
well, since plural means more than one, all marriages are plural and also, un-biblical does not make any sense. do you mean against the teachings of the bible? if so, no, the bible says marriage should be with another member of the opposite sex... AKA another person... therefore more than one, therefore plural
You are correct. Just because plural marriage was committed in the early centuries, does not mean that God approved of the practice. It was first practiced by Kings and their leaders in early history, but God still speaks of ';one woman for one man'; in the sanctity of marriage.';

Kudos' to you
marriage was meant to be a benefit for both. in polygamous marriages, the man is the only one who benefits. In polyandrous marriages, the woman still doesn't benefit.

only in one-to-one marriages is there a chance for both to fully realize the glory of God's plan...

the kitchen remark? might be indicative of your selfishness and insecurity...
I heard that in any society where women were treated as equals, it wasn't encouraged.

But, women weren't really treated equally in England during the Middle Ages but they still didn't allow it (although, apparently it was common for the guy to have a mistress). In India, I think all members of society have equal rights but if the guy can afford it, he can have more than one wife...

Edit: And, they don't mind. Social upbringing has some to do with it. Plus, Mormons....well, each case is different there.

My Anthro. teacher pointed out that humans are the most self-governing of any animal. Therefore, each person should be aware of how to conduct themselves in a relationship.
My kitchen too is my domain and there is absolutely no way that I would approve of plural marriage; unless it was two hot guys.

NO! Just kidding. The Bible renders of experiences of what happens when there were plural marriages and there didn't appear to be happy endings in any of them. There were always problems.

Tells ya something...
From a Catholic Christian viewpoint:

In the Bible, a few kings and patriarchs had more than one wife but these few instances were exceptions and rarely turned out well.

The general rule from Genesis chapter two and throughout clearly is that God created marriage for one man and one woman.

This monogamist view is the only New Testament view of marriage and the kind of marriage that Jesus Christ raised to the level of a sacrament.

For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 1601 and following: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt2s鈥?/a>

With love in Christ.
In the olden days, before you could murder your husband, you needed to be Buffy Summers. In modern times, even a .22 caliber pistol shot at close range will take out a guy built like Dwayne Johnson.

Are we so certain it WASN'T a woman who invented the pistol?
Plural marriage was NEVER banned in the bible. Only people wanting positions in the church were discouraged from it. It was women I think.
God created Adam and Eve - that was the pattern for marriage from the beginning.
I think it was preferred that a man had only one wife. But there were instances that some had more. One big example was Solomon.
I'm gonna stick with one. I don't know if I'll find a second one who can drive a 5-speed * and * put up with my constant ';Simpsons'; references.
The latter. Lots of men in the Bible were polygamists.
LOL, I personally think it's the latter.
