Why do some people think they have the right to tell other people their not worthy of marriage? Prop 8?

I'm not gay personally, but I think its horrible that some people try and tell others how they should live their life! We're all PEOPLE. It doesn't matter if we are straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual or trans-gender. We all have feelings! Who is anyone to tell another person how to live THEIR life?!

VOTE NO ON PROP 8!Why do some people think they have the right to tell other people their not worthy of marriage? Prop 8?
I agree! it is immoral and demeaning to undermine anyone's right to marriage, we are all equal and individuals so why should a minority have the ability to supress and control a majority xWhy do some people think they have the right to tell other people their not worthy of marriage? Prop 8?
Proposition 8 has nothing to do with whether or not people are worthy of marriage. It has to do with the definition of marriage in itself. Marriage had always been defined as between a man and a woman. This excluded homosexuals which was discriminatory. So what California did was enact Domestic Partnerships under Cal. Fam. Code 搂297.5. Which gave same sex couples the exact same rights afforded to married couples. The only difference was the title. Proposition 8 does nothing to oppress anyone, all it does is reinforce the will of the people of the state of California as previously stated by the outcome of proposition 22 where 61% of California's voters voted to define marriage as between a man and a woman. The will of the people was later disregarded by activist judges in a 4-3 ruling. So to answer your question;

Why do some people think they have the right to tell other people their not worthy of marriage?

';The same reason that 4 judges thought that they had the right to ignore the beliefs of and overturn the will of millions of California voters....';

The question is why homosexuals want marriage to be redefined. If they want equality then get the same rights as married couples. I mean even if marriage is redefined for them they will still be gay, nothing will change people mind on how we see them. In fact it will be referred to as marriage of the unnatural. Allowing gay people to redefine marriage because we feel sorry for them is like affirmative action. So vote YES on Prop 8 unless you want homosexuals to be even more discriminated when they walk the aisle.
I am a gay man and I do support prop. 8.

I will vote Yes because it has nothing to do with discrimination. Gay couples already have equal LEGAL rights under domestic partnership and civil union. That is what law should and can do. Marriage, on the other hand, is a cultural or religious institution and is defined by societal values.

Just like we need to make sure that men and women have the same legal rights, but it is wrong to demand that all the public restrooms to be unisex.

Don't forget that in 2000, California voters approved Proposition 22 (the Defense of Marriage Act) by a 61.4 percent to 38.6 percent margin to reject gay marriage. It is the gay activists who wanted to overturn the majority of Californians' decision.

Gay marriage is contra survival.

The whole purpose in getting gay marriage legitimized is to collect benefits that married people are entitled to.

Those benefits are paid by you and I as taxpayers. Increases in taxes impact the most on young families, the ones who actually have children and the reason those benefits exist in the first place.

More taxes for young families means less children. Less children means less people to pay taxes in the future. And gay marriages by definition produce no children.

I'll say it again. Gay marriage is contra survival.

People fear what they don't understand. I think the majority of Americans don't have a problem with civil unions between gay or lesbian partners, but a lot of Americans do not believe they can be married traditionally. Personally I don't care, if someone has been with a partner for 20 years they should have the benefits that any married couple has.

I believe in ';judge not';, and that we should be more tolerant. Seems the US is going backward on tolerance. How sad.
How you worship is nobody's business. Let alone who you ';shack up with';. Marriage is a sacred pact between a man and a woman tho. Homosexuals who want to ';get married'; shouldnt use a church for the ';union';. Nor should they receive benefits from one anothers jobs! There are Heterosexuals who ';shack up'; all the time. WITHOUT sharing benefits. Except for the FREE SEX! And they don't try to ';make it legal'; thru the courts.

So much of the Bible is being forced OUT of the public. And more and more Homosexual Living is being shoved INTO our lives. Political correctness at it's WORST!

I'd VOTE 'YES' on Prop on 8 if I lived in California. Stop the madness!!
It's hypocritical to use the words of the Bible to argue AGAINST what GOD says he hates.

God said homosexuality is an abomination! *It Is A Sin!*

Your parents failed in teaching you people right and wrong.

This is a nation built on Judea-Christian principles. If you don't agree with that, Sweden is nice and allows all kinds of evil. Go there.

America is the most morally decent country on earth. Some of us are proud of it, others hate it.

JUST GO AWAY IF YOU DON';T LIKE IT, OR THE DECENT PEOPLE WHO UPHOLD IT';S PRINCIPLES.

There's loads of places you would like better! You'll be happier.

And we who love America would love it even more without you in it!
prop 8 defines marriage and there is no constitutional right to marry! This is NOT about gay rights. Gays have legal right already.

This is a situation about parental rights. Schools are FORCED to teach 5 year olds about gay marriage. Parents have to say in this and can't opt their children out.
This is not about telling people how to live their lives.

And it has nothing to do with who is a worthy person.

It is about the nature of marriage.

Not everybody has to get married.

I never got married. I live my life as I choose, and I am as worthy as the next person.
Extremist Christians need to lose the right to have a vote or say in anything within a secular state.

They're like a wild pack of out-of-control nosy neighbours.
I say let them get married so they can suffer and go through divorce like the rest of us. Why should they be special lol.
I agree with you kids should be told boys can marry boys and girls can marry girls. VOTE NO ON PROP 8.
